We are going to Atlanta today! The trip isn’t particularly difficult, and especially because we have made the trip so many times, and know how to break it up.
So I’ve got to finish packing for the trip, dye my hair, and be ready to go by 4pm. I’m crazy excited to be almost on the road, and I can barely seem to relax enough to sleep. Husband wants to cuddle, but I’m not really in the mood, so I thought I would go ahead and type up a little something for you guys out in the cyberspace of the real world.
I’m a little anxious because I’m not going to be able to play my fb games for a while, but the problem with that is that I know as soon as I can’t access them anymore, I’m not going to care. I’ve already warned my Scrabble buddies that I’m going to be out of commission. I just have to ignore my restaurant.
The trip should be a lot of fun, though. Dragon*Con has never not been a good time, and for the road trip, we actually are going to be carrying a power converter for the car so that we can use the computer while we travel. I might actually be saving some slash onto the laptop, just so I can read it in the car. Maybe not, I’ve had some problems with motion sickness before.
Cat has been situated with the right people. Once we pack, and Husband is home for work, we will be on our way.
But I’m pretty sucky at that, so I’m just going to keep myself occupied with everything else ever. Honestly, I really need to get some rest because I’m going to have to get up tomorrow and go shopping with Husband and MIL. In and of itself, not a bad trip, so long as my MIL drugs herself up so that she can function.
Husband has to work first, so that’s going to set us a little later getting out, but once on the town we should be looking for a tie to go with Husband’s new suit. He wants one that matches my pretty dress (bought for an occasion earlier this year, and which I haven’t been able to wear since).
Husband also bought me special shampoo to boost the color in my hair when I dye it. (This is why I love Husband so much. He wants to buy matching ties and gets me expensive shampoo.)
Most of my posts for the next week or so are going to be seriously tiny, I think. I’m not going to have access to internet while I’m out of town, and I don’t plan on writing any opuses to leave behind.
Going into the episode, I’m amused by the idea that the team captains will be chosen by who runs 200 meters the fastest. Of course, it is all guys who when the race, which sucks, but there you are.
- Josh, Anya, and Becky
- Bryce, Kimberly, and Danielle
- Anthony, Laura, and Bert
- Viktor, Olivier, and because there were only two of them since Cecilia jumped ship, they chose Josh C. to bring back
The idea of designing an three outfits around sneakers that are not necessarily sports or casual wear is interesting. And watching the teams trying to work around their perceived handicaps is pretty funny. Putting the emphasis on the materials of suede and denim is just mean.
I think that some of the teams jumped a bit to quickly to clique status where two of the members are getting along great, but the third is just a sore thumb. It causes dissent in the ranks, and definitely sets people up to be thrown under the bus.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Team Viktor’s collection. Team Bryce’s weren’t much better. I really don’t think that Bryce’s dress was good at all. Funny enough, though, I kind of liked BB Annie Oakley’s. Team Anthony’s was just sad excluding Bert’s. Team Josh’s garments, though, were the best as a collection, even if I didn’t really like Anya’s.
I do agree with the judges that there was no clear high or low team, that each team had those points within their designs. Check out the designs on Lifetime’s site.
Josh: I don’t really love the vest, but the top is okay.
Anya: Awkward maxi dress of doom
Becky: I don’t really love it, but it could have been a lot worse. I think it is a bit strange in the proportions.
Overall: Looks like a collection, at least.
Anthony: So, so messy. reminds me of the strange diaper pants from a few seasons back
Laura: eh. the print didn’t work for me.
Bert: probably the best of the bunch to me, a little wide in the shoulders, but less messy than the other two.
Overall: just. just, yeah, no.
Viktor: I like the jacket, and the dress is decent.
Josh C: I like the outfit, it feels like something you would see on the street.
Olivier: What in the world is that skirt?
Overall: Olivier’s outfit was disconnected from the rest of the collection
Bryce: I hate that dress. It looks like a stupid box
Kimberly: I don’t understand the jacket with the poofy shorts.
Danielle: The blouse looks a lot worse up close.
Overall: just. no.
Aha! I’ve managed to crochet half of the project I’m delivering during Dragon*Con weekend. If I finish it, I’m going to start working on a dragon, a TARDIS, or a Dalek. Last year, I finished a Dalek and two brain slugs to take with us. I even put a voice box in the Dalek and put the brain slugs on headbands. It was some serious win. I had a couple of drunk girls try to steal them, which I thought was hilarious, and then a geek blog took Husband and my picture (then later posted it!).
To finish my project, though, I have to find my white yarn, and I have no freaking clue where I put it. Certainly, I have a couple of places that it might have ended up, but I don’t know if I even put it away properly. I also need to finish a pair of earrings and a necklace I was working on for my Ursula costume. I’ve decided not to do the costume this year, but I do want the accessories done.
I really need to make my decision on whether I’m going to costume this year, or not, so that I can get my stuff together if I decide to do it.
I’ve been watching crap movies since I got up. I started with Case 39, which is a horror flick starring Renee Zellweger, whom I kind of hate a lot. So, I was more than pleased to watch her being tortured for the entirety of the movie. The little girl was really a lot of fun to watch, even if the movie was kind of predictable.
I’ve moved on to Green Hornet, now, and while I like Seth Rogen, Kato is stealing the show for me. I pretty much hate Cameron Diaz, but I can deal with her for Kato. (Clarissa’s dad is a reporter in it, wtf?)
I’ve been trying to get my movies out of the way so that everyone else can set themselves up to get their movies on netflix while Husband and I are out of town. We’ll only be gone long enough for a couple of deliveries, but I don’t want our movies to come in and be wasting our subscription.
For your daily cute factor:
I’m one week away from Dragon*Con! I’m trying to decide if I want to set up little snippets to be posted during that time, or just let the blog lie fallow in the fields of the internet. There is so much to do in preparation, but I’ve been terribly lazy. The only real effort I’ve made is half a crochet project I meant to do for a friend I’ll be seeing and buying two boxes of hair dye for myself.
Husband has been doing more since he has to get work prepared for it, but that’s really more about making sure the whole place doesn’t fall to bits while we are out of the state. I mean, really, I think they would probably shatter if Husband wasn’t there to protect the brittle pieces and cushion the blows.
Cat is going to be left to the devices of the roomies, which as previously discussed, can be quite harrowing. I’m worried that we’ll come back and she will have gained thirty pounds and developed a taste for marsupial flesh and cow’s milk. Yeah, I know it probably isn’t that bad, but I’m a worrier, and they kind of suck hardcore at following my directions.
I still don’t know if I’m going to costume at any point. My new found allergy to latex has reared enough for me to rethink Zedding up for anything. It sucks, but I’m glad that it happened early enough for me to realize and not get fucked up by the itching and pain. Also, I’m wondering if I would be able to take a Benadryl and ignore it. (According to my research, technically yes, but I could also shift into anaphylactic shock fairly rapidly if exposed enough. fuck.)
In any event, I’m spazzing the fuck out for the joy of being at Dragon*Con. I’m super, duper, crazy excited. I love seeing friends and being around the con so much!
