Finally Safe, Don’t Know About Sound.

Husband, Fritter, and I are finally back in our respective homes for now. The actual trip was pretty scary, as we ended up hitting a lot of bad weather on the way back down, but Dragon*Con was as amazing as ever.

I’m currently still trying to recover, and I may have a post about the lovely pieces we picked up on the trip, but I know that I’m owing a PR post, and have one due tomorrow, so that’s going to be my focus as I haven’t even watched this week’s episode. I watched last week’s, but it came through so poorly on the cable at the hotel that I’m going to re-watch it to make sure that I have a clear view of everything.

Husband and I have also decided that costuming for next year will begin in January to make sure that we end up with enough time. With Fritter’s help, I’m hoping to become more proficient at machine sewing, so that not everything I do has to be done by hand. We have to decide what costumes to do, first, however.

I finally got husband into my corset this Dragon*Con, which was completely delicious, and he’s agreed to do a cosplay that puts him back in it, but I have to figure out what to do with him. I’m actually kind if leaning toward Red Queen (which I’ve been wanting to do for years) and King for me instead. The only real problem that I see with that is that Husband wouldn’t want any photographic evidence, just because his family is so weird about those kinds of things.

Speaking of Husband’s family weirdness, we were having dinner with them, and the brothers insisted on putting meatballs in a sauce that had already had meat added to it. Am I the only one who finds this strange? I’m not against a think sauce by any means, but it always seems as though I can’t actually get any sauce when they do that. Also, it makes me feel slightly sick to my stomach from the seasonings in the meatballs (which are almost always pre-packaged and not particularly good to begin with.

Now one of the brothers is pissed with me because I insisted that the meatballs don’t go into the sauce, even though I was the one who got the sauce started. You would think that making his job easier by cutting out needless steps would appeal to him, but apparently I’m just the devil today.

Srs Bsns.

So I’ve got to finish packing for the trip, dye my hair, and be ready to go by 4pm. I’m crazy excited to be almost on the road, and I can barely seem to relax enough to sleep. Husband wants to cuddle, but I’m not really in the mood, so I thought I would go ahead and type up a little something for you guys out in the cyberspace of the real world.

I’m a little anxious because I’m not going to be able to play my fb games for a while, but the problem with that is that I know as soon as I can’t access them anymore, I’m not going to care. I’ve already warned my Scrabble buddies that I’m going to be out of commission. I just have to ignore my restaurant.

The trip should be a lot of fun, though. Dragon*Con has never not been a good time, and for the road trip, we actually are going to be carrying a power converter for the car so that we can use the computer while we travel. I might actually be saving some slash onto the laptop, just so I can read it in the car. Maybe not, I’ve had some problems with motion sickness before.

Cat has been situated with the right people. Once we pack, and Husband is home for work, we will be on our way.

Busy Day Is Busy.

I started today a bit earlier than I would normally. I managed to get out of bed and shower with enough time to actually get some gas in the car before I had to meet up with anyone. Granted, I was still a little late, but that was totally traffic and construction.

Since today was my day off, Husband and I went and picked up Fritter and Dumas from their respective areas, then got some lunch. As always, Five Guys was very delicious and we brought home too many fries. Dumas went home for a while, and Husband, Fritter, and I ran into Husband’s work for a bit so he could get some minor stuff taken care of. After that, we went to our local comic shop and picked up some gaming supplies.

Fritter has been insisting that we all learn to play Munchkin, so she picked up a set for it. After d&ding, we did a quick round of Munchkin, and it was so much fun, even if half of us were about to pass out from lack of sleep.

I really love learning to play new games, especially games like Munchkin, where the point is just to have a good time and interact with everyone. My friends always love to get together for Apples to Apples, and most of us love to play Scrabble with one another. Fritter, especially, gets my love for Scrabble, and I’m glad to have a partner in gaming in her.

I think something that people miss out on today is the real life gaming social experience. We can play all kinds of games online, technically socially, but it is just mostly demanding things from others. Click this! Accept that! I’ll be the first to admit that I love my facebook games, but I don’t think they increase my socializing with my friends or family at any speed. If anything, they make me less inclined to have actual conversations with people.

Sitting around with roomies, or family, or friends of any kind, and just hanging out and playing together is really more fun than anything else for me.

Homecoming; It Ain’t Just For The Team.

I’m so psyched! A friend of mine is coming home today. She’s a wonderful person, and a killer friend, and I’ve missed her something fierce. We actually met years ago, as well as states away, but we’ve been able to spend more time together since I moved to be with Husband than I think I got to spend with her in all the time we spent in college. And in spending that time together, Husband fell in love wither her just as much as I am.

The strangest part of that is that she’s only been able to be here during academic off-season due to her responsibilities, so not a terribly large amount of time.

But now, her situation has changed, and she’s able to be with us (and her mother) now. We are all hoping to be able to get a house together, where she and I will mock each other’s sister wife potential.

Husband and I are picking her and her kitty up from the airport, then we will hopefully be able to take her somewhere to let the kitty roam free as the wind in a house for a while. Fritter (as I am now dubbing her) and I are assuming that Kitty will not be well pleased by this trip, so we are trying to figure out to make the transition a little easier, since Kitty has never traveled any long distance.
